Voipax Reviews

Voipax is a credit-based VoIP provider, similar to Skype.

How Voipax Works

Users download a softphone and register an account with Voipax, after which they can call other Voipax subscribers  and place calls to the PSTN around the world for a fee.

Users do not pay a subscription fee with Voipax; instead, you'll pay for credit with Voipax, which they can then use to call different international and domestic locations for varying per-minute rates.

Free Calls and Free SMS with Voipax

Like most credit-for-call VoIP providers, Voipax offers a certain amount  of 'free' minutes and 'free' text messages. Also like most credit-for-call VoIP providers, Voipax places limits on these free calls – they can only be made to specific locations and for a specific amount of time. It's purposefully ambiguous, we think.

To start, though, you get 20 minutes free for downloading Voipax. For adding credit to your account, you get 300 free minutes. You do have a 120-day window in which you have to use those free minutes. (The way that Voipax advertises this is, again, purposefully ambiguous: the way they say it, it seems like you get 120 days when you can call for free. This is not the case.)

Additionally, you have to use those free minutes within 7 days of receiving the credit; those 300 minutes don't rollover from week to week.  However, every time that you buy credit, you get an additional 120 'Free Days,' where you can call Free destinations for … Free, provided you have remaining free minutes.

Confusing, isn't it?

However, you do get some free calls with Voipax and Voipax's international rates are much better than those of a traditional phone service provider. Voipax's rates are also competitive with various other VoIP service providers.

Limitations on Voipax

Similar to most credit-for-calls softphone VoIP service providers, Voipax doesn't offer E911 service and it doesn't offer very many calling features. Keep that in mind when you sign up.
